Brenda's Sir Stampalot Challenge

This is my card entry for Brenda's fabulous Mega Blog Candy to celebrate Sir Stampalot's move to larger premises. Have you seen the pictures of the shop on Brenda's Blog - Wow you could spend a week there and still not see everything!

I've had this Stampin' Up 'Neighborhood' Stampin' Around Stamp for ages and never used it until a few week's ago - I absolutely love it!

I've stamped the image with Memento Ink and then coloured with Copics, added Diamond Glaze to the Windows and Stickles to the clouds. I mounted it onto card stock that has been edged using MS Picket Fence Border Punch but left just the edges showing so that it looks like train lines and that the houses are 'moving' along!

For the Sentiment I used Microsoft Word and set the margins at 14 x 14 cms then typed the sentiment, using my favourite font at the moment - Scrap Twiggy from ScrapNFonts, at the top and bottom and printed it off onto DCWV Textured card stock.

Just a case of simple matting and layering of all the elements and then I added two punched out hearts just to finish off.

DCM - New Beginnings

It's the lovely Sue's turn to set the Dare over at Daring Cardmakers this week and this will be our last dare for 2009. We're taking a little break and will be back with our next Dare on 8th January. We're also saying goodbye to our fabulous Guest Designer over the last 2 months, Vicky (aka Dolly). I think you will all agree that she has done an amazing job and has made some fantastic cards for us. Thanks Vicky - I'll miss you.

So onto this week's dare:-

New Beginnings

As we are coming to the end of the year and fast approaching the start of not only a new year but a new decade, I’d like to see some cards celebrating something new.

It could be the New Year, a New Home, a New Addition to the family or even a New Day, I’ll leave that up to you.

This was such a quick and easy card and I absolutely enjoyed every minute making it.

I absolutely loved making this card. It was a nice change to work on a smaller project. I made it for a friend who has recently moved into a new home and I made it so that it didn't look like a "new home" card but one that could be displayed for longer if they wished.

Scrapping Angels Retreat

Well I'm still recovering after a very hectic but ultra enjoyable weekend at the Scrapping Angels Retreat at Wyboston Lakes. Its the first time Ive ever attended such an event and as I'm not really a scrapbooker I didn't really know what to expect. It was fantastic - Anna kept us all informed of events, classes, challenges, etc and was a great host and held everything together perfectly. So I'd like to say a big thankyou to Anna and her colleagues for the hard work they put in over the weekend.

I didn't manage to finish any of the layouts or projects in the classes but they are sitting here waiting for me to get my breath back and get on with them.

The one thing I was very pleased about was one of the challenges I entered - making a card. I won the challenge!!! So it just goes to show I am a card maker and not a scrapbooker (yet) lol.


This was my entry to the card making challenge:-

I used a strip of card from a box lid and tore the outer layer off to reveal the corrugated card underneath and inked over it. The house and trees are from a sheet of die cuts by Fancy Pants. Its from their new Kraft Kuts range which is gorgeous. I punched out a circle from KI Memories 'Bloom' paper and added Making Memories tiny alphas for the greeting.
