This is a photograph Mark took when we were in Robin Hood's Bay a few week's ago - he took it about 6.45am. The sea was so calm and I love the rays of sunshine glimmering on the horizon it's just magical. It sums up just how I felt when I was there - calm and rested.

Teri's Delicious Tulips

To celebrate the 1st Birthday of Teri's Delicious Doodles Teri kindly offered a free digi image every day last week. She's also running a competition to win a further 10 digi images so pop on over to her wonderful blog to get all the details.

Here's a card I've made with one of her beautiful floral images:-

I printed the image firstly onto plain white card and then used Distress Inks to shade around the edges. I coloured the leaves with ProMarkers and then I printed the image again onto patterned paper and cut out the Tulip petals and paper pieced them onto the image and then used lots of glitter to make them sparkle.

Matted and layered onto another piece of the same DP as the Tulip leaves and Bazzill that has been embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.

Daring Cardmakers - Material Girl

Our lovely Jane has set a fantastic Dare over on Daring Cardmakers this week:-

I would love you all to design a card inspired by a design on clothing - I know we have done inspired by clothing before but I was thinking more about being inspired by the pictures/textures/slogans/quotes on tshirts - not just limited to the colours/patterns on materials (although, of course, they are perfectly acceptable too!

I'm thinking ruffles,stitching/motives - but of course you can be inspired by just colours/designs if you prefer - it would be great if you have a picture of the clothing also?

At first I went into panic mode but after wading through my wardrobe and drawers I found this old T-Shirt - it's one I just can't part with because I love the flower motif on it so much!

Can I also remind you that The Great Northern Papercraft Extravaganza at The Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate is on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September 2010.

Show times are 10am to 4.30 pm Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday, with wheelchair access from 9.30am on both days.

Advanced tickets are: Adult £4.50, Children are Free and a Weekend Pass £8.50 they can be bought on-line from Craftwork Cards or by calling 0113 287 7794.

Tickets can also be bought on the door on both Saturday 11^th and Sunday 12^th September 2010.

There are Breakfast Workshops available to book on-line at Craftwork Cards taking place prior to the show on both days.

Colourful Christmas

Here are the card samples I made for Kirsty Wiseman's new Christmas CD - Colourful Christmas. It was aired on Create and Craft this morning at 9am - hope you got to see it! You can also purchase the CD here from Kirsty's shop. There are lots of yummy Christmas images - very cutesie ones and more traditional too - something for everyone!

I really enjoyed layering the images, they're so easy to cut around and I think it makes the cards that little bit more special.

Hope you like them - I so enjoyed making them!

Daring Cardmakers - Peridot

It's the beginning of a new month so that means over at Daring Cardmakers we're continuing with our birthstone theme:-

The August birthstone is the

Peridot

The colour of the peridot can range from lime, yellowish green, olive green to medium dark green.
As well as being the birthstone for August, Peridots are also the gemstone for the 16th Wedding anniversary

The Peridot is the National gem of Egypt. The Ancient Egyptians called the Peridot “the gem of the sun”.

They are associated with love, truth, faithfulness and loyalty, and also with fame, dignity, and protection

We'd like you to make a card using this lovely gemstone as your starting point. You could use the history, myths and qualities of the stone as your inspiration, and/or use the beautiful yellow-green colour in your creations.
