A little More Tartan

This is another card I made for the Daring Cardmakers Tartan Dare this week - I didn't use it for my GDT card but I've had a request that I show it - so here it is just for you Kathy!

DP from My Mind's Eye - The Merry Days of Christmas

Just simply stamped and paper pieced onto Bazzill Card Stock. I then layered it onto another piece of Bazzill and used my sewing maching to add zigzag stitching around the edges. I used 3d foam to attach it to the card and finished off with a Melissa Francis Rub-On Sentiment.

I also used the same DP to make the paper ribbon.

Daring Cardmakers - Tartan It Up!

Well this is my last day as Guest Designer for the Daring Cardmakers Team. I can't believe how quickly the last 4 weeks have flown by. I've had an absolute ball being part of the team and I've enjoyed every dare so I'd like to say a big thank you to them all for being such a great bunch. THANK YOU!!

So onto the dare.

This week Jo has set the dare as follows:-

I would like you to use some sort of tartan on your cards, fabric, ribbon, paper, even a piece of an old tartan rug(!)etc.

I've stamped her once onto white card and twice onto patterned paper (from MME The Merry Days of Christmas Collection), cut out sections from her dress and hat and paper pieced onto the main image.

I've used Copics for her hair and skin.

Daring Cardmakers - Shabby Chic

This week's dare over on Daring Cardmakers has been set by Tanya Leigh and she has chosen the theme of "Shabby Chic". Why don't you pop over and have a look at the DT creations and have a go yourself. I promise you will have a lot of fun!

This is my card:-

At first I had to stop and think about this one as it's not really my style at all and I thought it was totally out of my comfort zone. However I did little detective work on the internet and found some absolutely beautiful creations. I looked through all of my stash and found the big turquoise flower, matched it up with some others and the whole card was built around that. I found scraps of BoBunny "Alissa" papers and cut outs which matched perfectly too and had the "girl friends" wording on it so the theme became a sort of girly party night out. I looked through my bits box and found frames I'd made and not used, bits of lace, and the crown was from a box of die cuts by DCWV (Once Upon a time) that I had never even opened! After a bit of distressing, inking, sticking and sewing I was quite pleased with my very first attempt at Shabby Chic but most of all I really enjoyed it!

Tilda and Friends ATC Challenge - Layer It Up!

I haven't made an ATC in absolute ages so when I saw the one's Jan had made it really got me itching to have a go. Jan is enjoying a Guest Design spot on Tilda and Friends so I thought I'd put an entry in this week. I've layered the flower up on my Tilda image to go along with the challenge.

ICSketches #34

This is Dawn's fab sketch for this week over on ICSketches:-

My card:-

Stamp - Penny Black "Hand Mailed" stamped (twice) with Memento Ink Pad and coloured with Copics. You can't tell by the photograph but I have cut out the teddy bear and snow on top of the post box and attached them with Silicone glue to give a 3d effect. Papers and sentiment are from My Mind's eye "Colourful Christmas" collection, all matted and layered onto Bazzill card stock. Centre "diamond" cut out using scallop square Nestabilities. I finished by adding a few small punched snowflakes, some Stickles and a bit of doodling/faux stitching.

Get Funky Challenge - September

The challenge for September over at Get Funky is to create a boy themed card. I had a real dilemma with this one as I have the "I Do Word Book" and "Shabby Saturday" downloads neither of which contains papers suitable for a boy! I did make a card using the letters and numbers from the Word Book but wasn't happy with it so ditched that one. Eventually I decided to use one of the papers from the free downloads it was perfect to go with the Penny Black Stickeroos that I had already decided to use. I just created a simple little swimming party scene adding Melissa Frances Rub-Ons and Making Memories Tiny Alphas. I'm quite happy how it turned out - at last!!

Oh! to be beside the sea!

Don't the weeks just fly by - I can't believe it's Friday already and time for another Dare over at Daring Cardmakers. The team have set a seaside theme this week and I had so much fun creating my card for my second week as Guest Designer.

Down by the Sea

Over on this side of the world we're coming to the end of the Summer, and on Keryn's side they'll soon be dusting off their buckets, spades and sun-hats.

Of course we don't just enjoy being by the sea in the Summer, it doesn't matter what the season is, the seaside is a great place to be, so this week we'd love you to make cards with any sort of seaside theme.

Why don't you pop over and have a look at the great inspiration povided by the rest of the team.

Lately I've been having loads of fun trying to create different frames and effects using my Nestabilities. I love how this turned out - sort of a port hole effect. I passed it through a paper crimper and then swiped a brown ink pad over the raised areas. Image is by Hobby Art that I have stamped with Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. Cardstock is Core-dinations "Whitewash" collection (torn, sanded and inked) and Bazzill Kraft Card. I created the textures using Flower Soft, Micro Beads, Shells, String (coloured with Copics) and an eyelet and star from my stash. finally I created the words using Mrs Grosman's alphabet stickers.

Carol's Sketch Fun #14

Carol's created another fabulous sketch for us over at Carol's Sketch Fun and she's also got a great prize up for grabs for one very lucky winner!

My card:-

I've used one of the great new Colour-Me-Ovals from Craftwork Cards as the main image. I coloured it with Copics, highlighted the petals and leaves with Stickles and then covered the whole oval with Diamond Glaze. When the glaze dried I attached a small metal bead with a brad to the centre of the flower. I used Nestabilites to cut out the Scallop Oval and the frame which is coloured with Aged Mahogany Distress Inks, I also coloured the outer edge of the card blank the same.

Allsorts Challenge #17

The challenge over at Allsorts this week is "something for the boys". A friend asked me to make a Dinosaur card for her grand-daughter as she loves them - think she must be a bit of a tom-boy! But as this card would be perfect for a boy I thought I would enter it for the challenge.

Winter Wonderland - Frosty the Snowman

I'm a bit quicker off the mark this week with the Winter Wonderland challenge. The theme is Frosty the Snowman and there's a sketch to follow if you wish (but it's not compulsory). I wish I could take better photographs as the card is quite sparkly and the pink background paper has a lovely shimmer to it but it's not been captured at all here! So I do apologise.

I've stamped a background using the new 'A Sprinkling of Snowflakes' clear stamp set from Craftwork Cards and a ColorBox 5 colour Option Pad. I used a Quickie glue pen to highlight the snowflakes and then sprinkled them with Glamour Dust.

Oh Happy Day!

I feel so happy that I have been asked by the Daring Cardmakers team to be Guest Designer for the month of September. To be able to showcase my cards alongside all of theirs is a true privilege. Daring Cardmakers was the first ever challenge that I entered and the team gave me the confidence to carry on and do more!

Rein has chosen the theme of SUNFLOWERS this week so it's bound to brighten everyone's day after the deluge of rain that we've all been experiencing of late.
