Daring Cardmakers - Wish You Were Here!

It's my turn to set the Dare this week over at Daring Cardmakers and this is what I've chosen:-

WISH YOU WERE HERE!

As it's Summer here in the Northern Hemisphere (although you could actually disagree with that sometimes, with the mix of weather we get here in the UK) and the kid's will be starting their Summer Break from School. I'd like to see what your idea of the perfect getaway destination is. Is it a Sandy Beach, a Tropical Paradise, Camping/Caravaning, Countryside or even a City Break! What takes your fancy?

I thought it would be a good one to get everyone into 'holiday' mood.

Here's my card:-

I love the seaside and anywhere with a lovely sandy beach is perfect for me. I've always thought what a luxury it would be to actually have your very own beach hut so my card reflects that with this gorgeous beach hut image from Molly Blooms. I masked the beach huts to stamp the sun (PSX) image behind and the birds are 'Flock of Birds' by Hobby Art Stamps.

The papers I've used are by Black Market Paper Society - Lucky 'n Love and all the beach elements are made up from items in my stash including tiny shells, micro beads, Flower Soft, Judikins Roxs.

The Card Candi and large letters are from Craftwork Cards July Project of the Month Kit and I've added Making Memories Tiny Alphas to complete the sentiment.

Card base is 8 x 8 scalloped square also from Craftwork Cards.

Craftwork Cards and Spellbinders Card No. 2

Here's the second card I made for Craftwork Cards and Spellbinders Cross Promotional Partnership. I just picked a random sneaky peak yesterday but surprise surprise this is the card that has been shown over on Craftwork Cards Blog today!

This was the die I was sent to have a play with:-

On the Vine Border

It's a 12" Die so I had to cut one half of it first then take it from the cutting plates, turn it and cut the other end as I don't have the proper platform on my Big Shot but it works just the same.

It was Julie Hickey's idea to use the vine and add Card Candi as grapes I just had to try and put it into practice lol. Then I remembered the lovely 'boozy' themed stamps from Craftwork Cards so stamped the wine bottle, corks, and sentiment from that.

Background paper is by Echo Park, I used Martha Stewart Doily Lace Edge Border punch to give the look of a table cloth, added a few flowers and pearls and coated the bottles in diamond glaze to give them a shiny finish.

Craftwork Cards and Spellbinders Card No. 1

I mentioned a few posts back that Craftwork Cards had been invited to join Spellbinders in their Cross Promotional Partnership getting creative with their dies and Craftwork Cards' range of Card Candi. Well we've all been very busy on the Design Team creating cards for Sue and Julie to take to CHA to decorate the stand. As well as Craftwork Cards Products and Spellbinders Dies we were also allowed to use other items from Companies that are also in the partnership.

Here's the first of my cards that's already been shown on Craftwork Cards Blog so I know it's ok to show it here, now. I've even captured a little starburst from the glitter - that's a first for me!

I've used dies from these sets to make my card:-

I made a Card Candi Rose for the centre of my flower and all other products used are from Craftwork Cards except for the leaves which were cut from Bazzill Cardstock and then I used the die as a stencil and inked the inner parts of the leaves. I did a little faux stitching around the edge and finished off with Stickles Glitter Glue.

Can't wait to post my other cards so in the meantime I'll leave you with a sneaky peak!

Daring Cardmakers - It's all very Pinterest-ing

It's our lovely Nat's turn to set the Dare this week over at Daring Cardmakers and she's chosen something really different and quite unique - I'll let her explain:-

As the title suggests we're looking to Pinterest for some inspiration!

I am a relatively new convert to Pinterest - I only joined a month or so ago, but it is definitely my favourite place to hang out at the moment and get instant inspiration - plus I can keep track of all the wonderful inspiring pics and cool techniques I've bookmarked over the years in one handy place.

We want to spread some Pinterest love this week - because the joy of Pinterest is discovering new sources of inspiration!

So the dare this week is to create a card using a "pin" for inspiration.

We want to see what inspired your creation so make sure you include the original "pin" (ideally using the handy Embed feature that appears to the right of the image on Pinterest alongside your card project in your blog post.

If you're not a member of Pinterest you can still play along - you can either browse/search Pinterest for inspiration and still embed the "pin" in your blog post or simply share whatever pic you have used as inspiration for your card.

Kathy's Waffle Sketch - July 2011

I've got to apologise for not posting this card sooner but as they say "better late than never" lol.

This months sketch is a little beauty from Kathy over at Kathy's Waffle Sketch File and I did something I really find difficult to do - make a card without a main character or picture. The sentiment is the focal point on this one.
